Overview.
Welcome to this 5 days Mount. Bisoke hike and Bwindi gorilla tour where you will encounter the remaining endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitats and also hike Bisoke Mountain.
The tour takes you to 2 beautiful countries in East Africa and this will give you a memorable experience. Mount Bisoke is located within the vast Virunga ranges and home to a stunning crater on top and hence an ideal spot worth visiting.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Mount. Bisoke.
Welcome to the land of a thousand hill-Rwanda! Our tour representative will pick you from the airport and take you on a short city tour depending on your arrival time. You will then proceed to Mount Bisoke, which is located on the fringes of Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. Spend your first night of this 5 days safari.
Day 2: Hike Bisoke Mountain.
Enjoy breakfast and then head for briefing at the park headquarters which takes about 20minutes. Later on, start the hike to one of the volcanic mountains within the Virunga ranges.
This hike will enable you to explore the beauty of this park as you thrill through the beautiful vegetation. The hike takes about 4 hours and sloping about 2 hours. Then you will relax at the accommodation facility booked.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park – Uganda.
On this third day, you will be served an early breakfast and then start a journey to Bwindi national park in Uganda-the pearl of Africa. Bwindi national park is located in south-western Uganda and it is famous for harbouring the remaining endangered mountain gorillas.
It has also other big mammals like elephants, buffaloes among others, as well as a perfect destination for birding with over 350 bird species recorded here. Some of the birds residing here include the black-billed turacos, Fraser's eagle, white-bellied robin chat, African green broadbill among others. Check in the safari lodge on your arrival for your dinner and accommodation.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and an option of Batwa cultural encounter.
Another interesting day starts with breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters where you will attend a briefing session. In this briefing, a park ranger or park warden will inform you about the dos and don’ts while trekking these beautiful creatures. Among the don’ts include; don’t feed animals, don’t use flashlights, follow the guide and desist from making noise while trekking.
Later penetrate the impenetrable forest to search for these endangered species. Trekking time is between 2-8 hours depending on where you locate these gorillas; though 60minutes will be offered to you while in the presence of the gorillas as you take memorable photos.
After the trek, trek back and head for your lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon, you have an option of visiting the Batwa pygmies and learn their culture as you get entertained with their music and dances.
Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali and depart.
After an early breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali crossing via the Katuna border to catch up with your flight back home. This will mark the end of a 5 days Mount. Bisoke hike and Bwindi gorilla tour.
