Overview.
Join this exclusive 7 Days Uganda gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi Forest National park. The safari offers you 4 times’ chance to trek 4 different gorilla families in all the 4 sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park.
This safari is the best package to compare different gorilla families and see what makes each gorilla group unique from the other. The safari starts and ends in Kampala, Uganda’s major capital.
Safari Day by Day.
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Bwindi Forest (Buhoma sector).
Having arrived at Entebbe International Airport, you will find your driver guide from our company waiting for you. You will be briefed on the itinerary, what to expect and when. Thereafter, hit the road transferring to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park located in southwestern Uganda.
A stop over at the Uganda equator for photos and several other stopovers to buy roadside foods and refreshment make this full day drive more exciting and fun. You will drive straight to Buhoma sector north of Bwindi Forest.
Day 2: 1st Gorilla trekking in Buhoma & transfer to Ruhija Sector.
This day starts with early morning breakfast and transfer to Bwindi ark headquarters in Buhoma sector. There you will be recorded by park officials and guided through the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. In your group of eight travelers, you will be allocated one gorilla family to trek.
At 8:00am, you will start up a trek up hill in search of the allocated gorilla family. This trek may last between 30 minutes to over 7 hours depending on where gorillas will be located that day and your hiking speed. You will be allowed to spend an hour with a gorilla family, take pictures in the company of your close relatives and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. In the evening, drive to Ruhija sector east of Bwindi Forest National Park
Day 3: 2nd Gorilla trekking in Ruhija.
You will have your second gorilla trekking experience today! After having an early morning cup of coffee, you will transfer to Ruhija Bwindi park head quarters for registration and pre gorilla trekking briefing.
Spend an hour with interesting gorillas of Ruhija, enjoy how gorillas interact with each other, take pictures, capture live videos and have fun with these endangered species. The hiking time before meeting gorillas can go up to over 6 hours but you are very sure of meeting gorillas at the end of the trek.
Day 4: Local community tours & transfer to Rushaga sector.
Enjoy your morning sleep, have a relaxed morning breakfast as you see fog clearing off the forest canopy.
Thereafter, you will visit the nearby local communities to learn and experience the traditions, norms and customs of local people. In the afternoon, drive to Rushaga sector in the south-eastern part of Bwindi Forest National park.
Day 5: 3rd Gorilla trekking & transfer to Nkuringo sector.
Rise up very early, prepare yourself, have heavy breakfast and with your packed lunch drive to Rushaga park headquarters where you will be registered and briefed on the dos and don’ts while with gorillas. Thereafter, embark on a hike up and down hill to meet one of the amazing habituated gorillas in Rushaga sector.
Spend an hour with gorillas, learn their human like characters, take pictures and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. Hike down, meet your diver guide and transfer to Nkuringo sector.
Day 6: 4th Gorilla Trekking in Nkuringo.
Today we have a 4th and the last gorilla encounter on this safari. You will wake up early, have breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a guide on gorilla trekking session. The precision is similar to that on the previous gorilla trekking days.
You will be out along with other 7 travelers and given a gorilla family to visit. Nkuringo sector is one of the most strenuous gorilla regions where the trek will last for up to 9 hours but worth it. You will spend an hour with one of the habituated gorilla families of Nkuringo and enjoy this magical feeling. More so, standing at Nkuringo hill offers you great views of the Virunga Volcanoes in Rwanda and Congo best for photography.
Day 7: Departure to Kampala.
Enjoy your morning sleep, wakeup to have a sunrise cup of coffee as you watch the foggy Bwindi Forest, check out and depart for Kampala. The roughly 8 hours drive via Kabale, Mbarara and Masaka highway offers you great views of rolling hills, local farms, homesteads and Ankole cattle farms among others.
Arrive in Kampala in the evening and connect to Entebbe airport for your return flight.
