Overview.

Mountain Gorilla trekking is one of the most rewarding adventure activity in Africa and it’s done in only 4 national parks and Volcanoes national park is one of them. This safari therefore, rewards you with the best of Rwanda gorillas and it suits travellers with less time on a safari or on a low budget.

There is a lot to discover not only gorillas but also beautiful rolling hills, other primates like vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, and mammal species like bush pigs, giant forest hog, and bushbucks among others.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Be welcomed by our tour representative at Kigali international airport and then transfer to Ruhengeri – the home of Volcanoes National Park. Drive through the villages along the way, covered by beautiful scenery of a thousand hills and arrive at Volcanoes national park in the afternoon, a short journey that takes about 2-3 hours’ drive.

This is the only national park where you can trek the endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda and where gorilla habituation started with Dian Fossey, a famous primatologist and researcher. Have enough sleep on arrival to prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali.

Start with briefing after breakfast where you will be instructed after the dos and don’ts to follow while trekking the endangered mountain gorillas and then penetrated the forest to search for these rare species.

The knowledgeable park ranger guide will offer you the information about the forest and it’s in habitats, and on locating the gorillas, you will be granted with an hour of with them and them as you watch while taking memorable photos.

Trek back and be rewarded with a certificate followed by a drive back to the lodge where you will be served with hot lunch and later transfer back to Kigali.
